Nearly every concentrate and vape in this shop, and a good share of the edibles, has the word solventless somewhere on the label. It is not marketing vocabulary. It names a method, and the method is the difference between two very different ways of getting resin off a plant.
Solvent extraction
The industrial route uses a chemical solvent to dissolve the resin away from the plant material, then removes the solvent again. Hydrocarbons, butane and propane, make what the trade calls BHO: shatter, wax, budder, live resin. Ethanol and supercritical CO2 are the other two common routes.
It works. Most vape cartridges on the market are made this way. What it requires is that the solvent be purged afterward, which is why residual solvents is a panel on the lab report. Anything made this way should carry that panel and should pass it.
We do not sell any of it. Not one cartridge. That is a choice about our shelf, and the mission page says why.
Solventless extraction
The other route uses nothing but water, ice, agitation, heat and pressure.
Fresh or frozen flower goes into ice water and is stirred gently. The cold makes the trichome heads brittle and they break off. The water carries them through a stack of mesh screens that sort them by size, and that is where the numbers on a rosin jar come from: 73u, 90u, 120u are micron ratings of the screen the material was collected on. The wet hash is dried. Then it is pressed between heated plates until the resin runs out. That is rosin. Water, ice, heat, pressure, and a person who knows when to stop.
No solvent goes in, so there is none to purge and nothing for that panel on the certificate to find.
What the word does and does not tell you
It tells you the method. It tells you the residual solvent question does not arise. It does not tell you the flower was good, because ice water and a press cannot improve what went into them. Solventless is unforgiving that way, and it is why the people who work this way are so particular about the flower they start with. Garbage in, garbage out, with no chemistry to hide behind.
Words you will see beside it. Live means the plant was frozen fresh instead of dried and aged first. Jam, rosin diamonds (caviar), fresh press and cold cure describe the state the rosin was finished to after the press, with cold cure far and away the most common because it keeps on the shelf. Fresh press means the rosin has not been cured since it was pressed. Only buy fresh press locally: it does not travel well in the mail, and it cures naturally over time, which can leave a texture or a cure you did not want. Decarbing or processing rosin physically after pressing it gives the rarer forms, the jam and the diamonds above.
The number of the wash a rosin release gets says how many times the flower went through the bubble hash process before the output was pressed into rosin. Lower washes are better quality, because less excess plant material makes it into the final trichome collection.

The makers we buy from are small enough that we usually know, and some of them we know by name.
And please do not tell us that water is technically a solvent. We know. We will get weird about it.
